Asbestos fibers in indoor settled dust and outdoor soil/dirt are usually so small that detection by Polarized Lght Microscope is impossible. For this reason, dust and soil/dirt samples are analyzed by Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). This is a Qualitative (Positive or Negative) test. Turnaround time is 2 - 3 business days.

To collect an indoor setted dust sample, use a damp tissue to wipe dusty surfaces and send us the tissue inside a ziploc bag for testing. If there is lots of dust, use a brush to collect at least one teaspoon of material. You can also send us similar quantity of vacuum machine bag contents

Outdoor soil/dirt samples should be one or two tablespoons.

Testing fees: indoor settled dust TEM Qualitative test is $150 per sample. Outdoor soil/dirt TEM Qualitative test is $250 per sample. Soil/dirt samples are gravimetrically reduced before sample preparation and analysis, thus the higher cost. [TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE]
